Before co-owning the butterfly conservatory with his sister, he worked as an aerospace engineer and spent years at GM. Now he brings that same curiosity and technical know-how to creating a space where nature, science, and a little everyday wonder come together.

Fred began his love of butterflies at the age of 3, and would stand outside with a butterfly net on most warm days. Over the course of 46 years, he has raised butterflies and learned about their unique relationships with the plants they depend on.
Fred first became Butterfly Curator at Magic Wings and helped in the design and construction of the facility in 2000. He has been curator for 26 years, and is still learning new things about the specialized ecosystem he helped create.
