How much does admission cost?
- Adults: $20
- Kids 3-17: $10
- Kids under 3: Free
- Seniors, veterans and active military, and students under 22 with a valid student ID: $15
We offer a member program which provides a discounted admission fee, 10%-15% savings in the gift shop, and discounts on tickets to Magic Wing workshops.
Admission covers the full day, so you may leave and return as many times as you would like on the day of your visit.
Do I need to buy tickets in advance?
No, you do not need to purchase tickets in advance but you can buy them before you visit here. If you are bringing a group larger than 20 we request that you call at least one week in advance to book your visit.
If you want unlimited admissions, become a Magic Wings member! In addition to unlimited admissions, you receive a discount when you shop in our gift shop and online store, discounts when you book Magic Wings for events, and more. Become a member!
What are your hours?
Magic Wings is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am-5pm. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
During school vacation weeks we are open all seven days and we open on some Monday holidays.
How long do visitors typically spend at Magic Wings?
Admission covers the full day of your visit, and guests are welcome to leave and return throughout the day.
Most guests spend about 60-90 minutes in the Conservatory.
Are group tours allowed?
Yes, Magic Wings welcomes groups and tours during our normal business hours. For groups of 20 or more, we require an advanced booking a minimum of one week in advance. Am I allowed to bring butterfly feeders into the conservatory?
No, butterfly feeders are NOT allowed into the conservatory. We have feeders and food available to our butterflies at all times and closely monitor their health. You are welcome to purchase a feeder from our gift shop to enjoy at home.
I’d like to do a butterfly release at home. Can I purchase a kit from you?
Yes, you can purchase butterflies for release for $5-$10ea (price varies based on species) or 12 butterflies for $55-$100 (based on species). We safely package the butterflies for release at your home, wedding, memorial, or celebration of life events.
We also sell caterpillars, chrysalis, cocoons, and praying mantids in our gift shop and online store. You are welcome to hatch the caterpillars at home and release the butterflies in the conservatory for free. Butterflies that hatch between October-April will not survive the cold temperatures outside. You can bring your butterfly in their temporary home to Magic Wings and release it inside the Conservatory.
Do you offer annual membership passes to Magic Wings?
Yes! We are excited to announce the Magic Wings Membership Program, with tiers for individuals, families, children, and butterfly supporters. You can find more information about the program and sign up to be a Magic Wings member here.
Do you sell food and drinks? Can I bring in my own from home?
We sell Grab N Go food items and drinks in our gift shop and guests are welcome to bring in food to enjoy in the Atrium.
Can I get married at Magic Wings?
Yes, Magic Wings holds weddings and private events after 5pm from Wednesday-Sunday, or between 10am-10pm on select Mondays and Tuesdays. We offer a limited number of days per year where people can rent out all of Magic Wings for the full day.

I’m a photographer, can I bring in equipment to take photos?
Yes, photographers are welcome to shoot inside the Conservatory during our normal business hours. We do not allow monopods or tripods inside the facility. You are also welcome to take photos outdoors in our garden with any equipment.
If you would like to schedule a private visit to take photographs, videos, or other projects while we are closed on Tuesday, please contact us at info@magicwings.com or call 413-665-2805. Private photo sessions are $150/hr.
Do you hold events at Magic Wings?
Yes, Magic Wings hosts regular workshops for kids and families, along with community events throughout the year. Members receive a discount on all Magic Wings workshops and event admissions. You can learn more about becoming a member here.
Are strollers allowed?
Strollers are allowed in our Atrium, gift shop, Pollinator Playroom, and outdoor gardens. Due to USDA regulations, strollers are NOT allowed inside the conservatory.
Wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, and certified service dogs wearing their service vests are allowed in the conservatory.
How many butterflies can I expect to see there?
We have over 4,000 free-flying butterflies in the Conservatory, along with button quails, a Senegal Parrot, chameleon, and other reptiles, tortoises and koi.
What other critters will I see at Magic Wings?
In our Wonderarium, you will see dart frogs, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, Vietnamese Mossy frogs, and stick bugs. Make sure you visit Porkchop, our Columbian Tegu, before you head into the Conservatory!
In addition to being home to over 4,000 butterflies, our Conservatory is also home to Randolph, our Russian Tortoise, Sassy and Humphrina, our Red Footed Tortoises, button quail, reptiles, and koi fish. Our parrot, Akbar, also lives in the Conservatory.
Do you sell any of the plants you have in the Conservatory?
Yes, we sell many of the plants we propagate for the Conservatory. When you visit, you can choose from our plant display in the Atrium to purchase in the Gift Shop.
